An easy victory over Efes
Olympiacos ‘crushed’ Anadolu Efes in the packed SEF 75-57 and got his 3rd Euroleague win in a total of five games.
Despite the good long range percentages of the Turkish team, the ‘red & whites’ with a good defensive play and relying on their superiority in the post, got to lead with 5 (10-5). However, bad shooting and turnovers did not allow them to open up the score any further (17-14 at 10’). The presence of Nigel Williams-Goss on the floor allowed our team to move the ball more efficiently and running a partial 13-8, they got a +12 lead for the first time (30-18) at 16’. The guest though showed reaction once again and closed in 33-25 at 20’ with Clyburn.
Bartzokas’ players began the third quarter with tremendous energy, played superb in defense and with Kostas Papanikolaou and Isaiah Canaan, they got to skyrocket the difference to 18p. (61-43). In the last quarter, they slowed down, but the difference only got bigger. Olympiacos put his money on defense and despite not scoring with the same frequency, the margin increased to 25p. (75-50, at 38’). With the game already been decided, Giorgos Bartzokas decided to use Giorgos Tanoulis, giving the young center the opportunity to make his Euroleague debut.
The quarters: 17-14, 33-25, 61-43, 75-57.
