Bartzokas: «We were unjustifiably nervous»

In the press conference after the defeat in the Greek Cup final, Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas congratulated Panathinaikos on their victory and praised his players for their effort. He also discussed the factors that led to the loss of the trophy.

In his initial statement, he said: "Congratulations to Panathinaikos, it was a close game with fluctuations, neither team could impose their style. It was a nervous game. Looking at the statistics, the situation was balanced everywhere, except for free throws, where we missed many, we had 7/16. A big percentage. We were unjustifiably nervous, after the comeback, we made defensive mistakes and errors. We are disappointed, I think we had the opportunity to win, but we need to congratulate our players for their effort and the players of Panathinaikos for their victory and move on to our other goals."

When asked about the players who were not used in the second half, he replied: "We had to go with a more closed rotation. The comeback we made shows that we had energy, but in the end, everything we did was wrong, both offensively and defensively."

Regarding the heavy load on Nigel Williams-Goss, he said: "Nigel has been overloaded due to the absence of Vildoza and Walkup. Vildoza is coming back, I believe he will be with us in Bologna. And we will assess Walkup's situation more thoroughly when we return to Athens."
