Bartzokas & 'Pap' about Olympiacos' centennial!

Our team's coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, and our captain, Kostas Papanikolaou, sent their own messages via Olympiacosbc.gr to mark the 100th anniversary of Olympiacos' founding.

Giorgos Bartzokas:

"‘A hundred years and it’s not enough…’ as the chant goes! For me, it’s not just a team, it’s a huge part of my life!

From when I was a little kid in the stands of ‘Karaiskakis’, to following it passionately as a fan in both football and basketball, to the day - one of the happiest days of my life - when I took over as the team's head-coach, Olympiacos has always been my home. And it will always feel that way.

Olympiacos is more than just a club. It’s a way of life, it’s its history, it’s its people, it’s the unique emotions it offers us, and I’m not just referring to the joys, but also the sorrows... I believe no other team has managed to touch the hearts of so many people so deeply.

I feel blessed to be part of this huge story on Olympiacos’ 100th anniversary. I wish our Olympiacos continues to leave its golden mark on time and fills us with pride."

Kostas Papanikolaou:

"I am proud to be part of the team on this remarkable milestone, the 100th anniversary of the club’s founding. I’m even prouder that on this massive occasion, I have the honor of being the captain of the basketball team.

In this century, Olympiacos has written its own unique history, with hard work, passion, and dedication - not just from the athletes, coaches, and administrators, but mostly from its fans. From the fans who are always there, in both the joys and the sorrows. In the good times, but also in the ‘rocky’ years. We strive for this fanbase, every day, trying to make them proud.

I sincerely wish all departments of the club continue to write new golden chapters in the history of our Olympiacos! Happy anniversary, Olympiacos!"
