Sfairopoulos: "We are heading to a tough battle"
Olympiacos is hosted on Friday (20/3, 21:00 CET) by Laboral Kutxa for the 11th day of the Euroleague TOP-16 and Giannis Sfairopoulos and Giorgos Printezis talked about the game against the Basques.
The Olympiacos head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos, just before the departure of the team to Bilbao talked about the game against Laboral Kutxa. "We are heading towards the end of the TOP-16, we have been having some problems, but we need to focus at one game at a time. Take a look at what we have planned, what we have talked about, that's what we need to do against Laboral. We are heading to a difficult battle, Laboral is a team that's very good in its home court, they are a team that relies on rhythm and we need to control that, we need to stop them from running and playing their game. If we control the rhythm, we are going to take the game to where we want it to go. Following Fenerbahce, we have had a solid reaction against PAOK for the Greek League. We now need to react even better for the Euroleague against Laboral Kutxa. The most important thing is to react correctly tomorrow as well" the Greek coach commented.
He then stressed that "we want each time we play to remain competitive and to win every game. It's only natural that it cannot happen every time, but we try each time for the victory with all we've got. The circumstance is not the same with every game, but we only have one goal, the one I talked about before. That's what we are going to try and do in the four games that remain till the end of the TOP-16".
On his turn, Giorgos Printezis said that "we showed a first reaction against PAOK in a tough court. But the real reaction has to be now. We lost a game that cost us, but nothing is decided yet, of course the home court advantage is important, but it all depends on us even if we don't get it at the end. I wish that at some point the bad luck is over, we have been very unlucky with injuries so far. But what can you do? The ones that are here need to give 110% to win. Laboral is a very athletic team, a rhythm team and they play fast and what we need is to control the rebounds and not allow them to play their game".
