Statements in view of the game against Bayern Munich
Olympiacos left for Munich, where tomorrow (24/10, 20Q45 CET) will be facing off with Bayern, for the 6th EuroLeague round.
Kostas Papanikolaou did not travel with the team. The captain received a blow in the bicep during yesterday's practice (22/10).
«We have three additions in our roster compared to the game against Maccabi. This may mean a lot or nothing», our team's coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, commented. «We must play well. We lost in Munich last year. Bayern is a team very different to last season's one. They play good defense and based on their roster, you need to be absolutely ready when playing them. It's obvious that last year, wtih Napier and Adwards on their roster, they were a different team. This season, however, they have bigger bodies in the perimeter, they switch when defending for long stretches in the game and we must be ready to cope».
On his part, Thomas Walkup, stressed: «We are delighted and ready regardless of the travel schedule. I feel very well. I have had time to recuperate, I have been practicing the whole week and I am ready to help the team». Asked if he feels any sort of sluggishness around, he replied: «No, it's still too early in the season to feel anything like that. We've been building up, growing the team, we improve every day and if we slow down, that will be catastrophic».
