Bartzokas: «We must reflect on why we played the way we did in the second half»

Giorgos Bartzokas spoke at the press conference following the end of Olympiacos’ game against Maccabi Tel Aviv for round 23 of the EuroLeague.

In his opening statement about the game, the team’s head coach said: “First of all, congratulations to the team and to the fans for this important win. Once again, we proved that our potential is very high. We scored 100 points again without any extraordinary shooting percentages. On the other hand, we need to reflect on why we played the way we did in the second half. Why we committed 12 turnovers, why we allowed 59 points, why when the lead went up to 25 points, we all played the game naïvely. This is something we need to correct as soon as possible.”

Bartzokas then answered a question regarding the management of the three centers: “I think you have asked the players themselves, and they have provided you with answers, unless what they are saying is just for appearances. At this moment, this is the situation. I am very happy with the way Tyrique played; he was excellent in the second quarter. He will play much more in the next game. We don’t know if Milutinov will travel, because from the blow he received, he has most likely suffered a concussion and the doctor says he should not travel, but we will look at it more closely tomorrow. In addition to what you are saying, there is a quick answer, which is given by basketball itself and by life.”
