Lucas: Olympiacos is a great challenge
Kalin Lucas is the new addition to the Olympiacos roster and spoke to olympiacosbc.gr from across the Atlantic for his decision to come to Greece…
“It hasn’t been a tough decision to make. I wanted to play someplace where I can become better, where I can improve and with a good team schedule. I know that Olympiacos has a great coach and a very good coaching staff that knows how to make a player better” the 23year old American commented at first and then added: “I haven’t watched much European basketball. But I know that Olympiacos is a team that has been among the best in the recent years, a team that aims to the Euroleauge Final Four and that always aims high. That’s why Olympiacos is a great opportunity for me and I would like to contribute the best I have to the team”.
For the talented American guard, coming to Piraeus is: “A great challenge. I have dealt with many challenges in my career and I think I have coped. Playing for Coach Tom Izzo at the university is a challenge, coming back from my injury had been a great challenge, and coming to Greece is a great challenge. However, if you don’t have challenges ahead of you, you can never become better and I want to be the best I can”.
Lucas talked about his injury in the 2009-2010 season that did not allow him to help MSU chase after the dream: “I had been unlucky. I could not help my team. But his made me better and stronger. I thought a lot about things at the time and became a better person and player”.
As for what it is to expect from Kalin: “I try to do what the coach wants me to do in the game. I’ll play tough, I’ll defend, I’ll pass the ball, I’ll score if needed. I’m not afraid. I want to come soon and meet with my coaches and team mates so as to understand a lot more”.
