And now Cibona…
Winning the Greek Cup was a special moment for the “reds and whites” but it’s already in the past, since Cibona comes next and does not intend to make anyone a favor. The Olympiacos delegation departs on Tuesday afternoon for the Croatian capital on a charter flight and at 19.30 of Wednesday (Greek time) will be facing Cibona for the 4th day of the competition.
A victory in Zagreb means that the team is almost qualified for the next Euroleague round. The importance of the said game is obvious by what the “red and whites” have to say.
PANAGIOTIS GIANNAKIS: “The cup final is over for us now and we only think about Cibona. It’s a team that tries for the best in all its games. It may be that Cibona has no victories in the first three games, but everyone has seen that they never lost without a fight. The game is very important for us and the players know it. A victory in Croatia will bring us much closer to our goal”.
NIKOLA VUJICIC: “I know very well what it means to play against Cibona in her home court. It may be that chances for qualification are very slim for them, but they are not going to be indifferent in any case. Especially considering that they will be playing against a team that whoever gets to beat gets a lot of credit for it. We are going to have to be extremely focused and keep in mind that should we not play well, we are not going to win and nobody is going to make us any favors”.
SCOONIE PENN: “Cibona is always a team that deserves to be respected in every game, despite her opponent’s strength or the importance of the game played. We have to keep our feet to the ground, remain calm and focused in the game and playing the way we know reach a victory that can seal qualification or even more the first place of the group, which is our second goal”.
