Papaloukas and Spanoulis on the NTV
Olympiacos participation in the Banvit tournament has added the games glamour and due to the “red-whites” presence, NTV Sports that had also broadcasted the latest Mundobasket, is also broadcasting the games live. Teo Papaloukas and Vassilis Spanoulis spoke on the Turkish television just before the morning practice on Thursday.
“It’s been only 10 days that we have been all together. We have been trying to get to know one another and that’s why we are here. We have been playing better in defense and that’s normal, but soon we will be able to have the same good level in offense as well”, Olympiacos’ captain commented and added: “A new head coach, six new players and a new philosophy for the team. The guys that left are going to be stars in the NBA and their loss is significant, but we have to conquer our goals in a new fashion and we still have to make the Barcelona Final Four”.
The Greek guard was also asked to speak about the Greek National team: “I don’t want to talk about the National team. I’m sure they are going to find the way and will soon return to win medals”.
Vassilis Spanoulis spoke in turn: “Everything has been going very well up to now. We are at the beginning of the preparation due to the National teams, just like most of the highest level teams. We have come to the tournament to start becoming a team”.
As for the goals set by Olympiacos for the new season: “Our goal is to win all of the three titles. We have a good team and we can make it”.
The international play-maker spoke about his first days with the “red-white” shirt: “I’m very satisfied with the team. We have tremendous atmosphere in and out of the court”.
V-Span was asked to comment on the reactions of the Panathinaikos fans: “When you go to another team, there are always going to be reactions, but I had to do the best for me as a professional”.
Finally, Spanoulis spoke about the National team: “That’s life. I hadn’t expected that. You have to learn from failure and move on. We respect the decisions of the guys who have decided to step down. They have offered a lot to the National team, they get older and they need to rest so as to be able to help their teams. That’s life, at some point younger guys come in to fill for those who grow older”.
