SPANOULIS: I’m not used to climbing on other people’s shoulders
Vassilis Spanoulis answered to the what the technical staff of Panathinaikos has stated in an interview in the sports portal contra.gr
Τhe “reds’” captain was asked to comment on what was said and he said: “For two years now that I’m with the team, I never wanted to comment on what happened, because that’s what my values and character tell me to do. I see that the Panathinaikos coaches have started crossing certain lines and that’s why I’m only going to say this and it will be last thing I say on the matter: On everything they have to say, I want to tell them that Mr. Obradovic know very well why I left. Better even than me. As for Mr. Itoudis, my personality and the values my family has taught me, don’t allow me to join in a debate with him. From the first moment of my career, I have learned to earn my spot and the respect in the gym and not be stepping on other people’s shoulders. I will never speak about this matter again and it stops here.
As for the game against Panionios? It was the first game of the semifinals series and we expected it to be difficult. The coach had told us to treat it like a Final Four game. Unfortunately, there are not going to be any games played till the Final Four. So, we have to prepare through the games against Panionios. We allowed Panionios to score in the first half. We improved our defense in the second half and we won.
