ANGELOPOULOS: And then we get to be asked whether we are staying or leaving
The President of Olympiacos BC Mr. Panagiotis Angelopoulos was obviously upset with the HEBA decision not to set dates for the play-offs finals in case both semifinal series end at 3-0.
After the end of the Press Conference for the Olympiacos – Panionios game, the strong man of the “reds” spoke on the issue: “I would like to officially comment on the issue presented by Mr. Ivkovic, the infamous 3-2 which is a secret result which cannot be officially announced but Mr. Ekonomides feels free to talk about on the phone, and at the same time officially inform Olympiacos’ General Director, Mr. Stavropoulos, that the League Committee, comprised by Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, Drama, PAOK and Mr. Ekonomides himself, decided with 3-2 votes against not to have a finals game against Panathinaikos before the Final Four. It’s a phenomenon showing how low the League has gone, to have Mr. Ekonomides and Drama deciding on whether to have finals or not, when according to Mr. Ekonomides has clearly told to Mr. Stavropoulos that Panathinaikos has already agreed to have a final. It is true that the votes were 3-2 against and that Panathinaikos voted for a final to take place. This is where Greece has come to, for the President to go publicly asking for a final to take place and not having a twelve days break in case both semifinals series end with a 3-0 and I don’t mean to underestimate our opponents. And they keep asking us whether we are staying with the team or not after something like that”.
Next, Mr. Angelopoulos was asked to comment on what the Panathinaikos coach had commented after their game against Kolossos: “I will not comment on Mr. Obradovic. Mr. Ekonomides is unfit to run HEBA and should quit”.
