Bartzokas: «The game against Galatasaray is a very important one»
Giorgos Bartzokas spoke about the game against Galatasaray which he marked as an important one since the Turkish team is according to his own statements, especially dangerous.
“Galata has had a lot of injuries. They are a team that has the financial means to sign players at once in order to cover for absences. They got Pops Mensa Bonsu and Malik Hairston. Coach Ataman had known Mensa Bonsu from Besiktas and thus he was quickly assimilated in the team. They have also activated many Turkish players like Arslan. We are greatly motivated for tomorrow, we want to victory no matter we have sealed qualification to the TOP16 or not. That means nothing, we are going to play in front of our fans and we have to be the readiest possible”.
As for the course of the team up to now, the 47year old coach said that “You can never be content with a result because this means that you get complacent at the same time. We try to improve every day. The team like any team is a living entity and a lot of things happen constantly. Like for example Sloukas’ injury. If a main player in out for 10 days then he’s out of rhythm. So incorporating someone in the Euroleague is very tough since the level is very high. We are definitely going to lose games, although we are going to do our best to win. Olympiacos enjoys tremendous respect when playing away. We are happy in general but we wish to remain healthy, continue working and take one step forward.”
Kostas Sloukas said about the upcoming game: “Olympiacos is always looking at one game at a time. That’s how we’ll be facing this one too. A lot of things have changed since the first game in Istanbul. They play slow, we want to control the rhythm. They are in good shape and we have to be careful and focused to get the victory. We don’t have records in mind, we only think about winning against Galata”.
