Printezis: We lack games…
Bilbao will be premiering in the Euroleague and its first opponent in the competition is Olympiacos. Giorgos Printezis spent a year and a half in Spain and knows better than his team mates what the “reds” are going to be facing in Bizkaia.
“The gym is going to be full and really noisy. It’s hard enough for all the teams to play in Bilbao’s home court. They have made some changes in their roster comparing to last season, but I think their character and philosophy are the same. Especially when at home, they press too much from the start, they play with energy and if they find rhythm from the first minute, then it’s difficult for them to lose control”, Giorgos Printezis commented during the team’s trip to Spain.
Olympiacos delegation reached Madrid Tuesday night where they will be staying up until Thursday and then they are traveling to Bilbao. Ivkovic and his players are going to practice at the Real Madrid gym Wednesday evening and on Thursday, they will be practicing at the gym where they will be playing their first European game for the season.
“Our advantage is Bilbao carries all the anxiety. It’s their first European game, and they definitely want to win it. Not just the team, but also the city. We have to take advantage of that. Our coaches have explained what needs to be done, but for sure, the two strong points of Bilbao’s game is speed and taking many shots”, Printezis pointed out and then talked about Olympiacos: “We are a young team and we are definitely not ready yet. We lack games and this team really needs them. I’m not trying to find excuses. We play for Olympiacos and despite the level of readiness, we need to win all games and that’s what we want to do in Bilbao”.
