The Commercial Director of Olympiacos BC Mr. Nikos Lepeniotis stated: "In the framework of restructuring and implementing the new Developmental Program, we think that sports and education should go hand in hand and that's why we deem necessary for each young athlete to receive the best education possible so as to successfully combine both. The "Elite Athlete Programme" of the Kostea - Geitona Schools offers an excellent opportunity to student-athletes that wish to take up sports and at the same time not get sidetracked in their studies and of course this is the best environment for Olympiacos' young athletes. With the help of the Official Sponsor of our Developmental Program, Hellas Direct and the scholarships they have offered, we believe to make a solid contribution to the proper sports and educational evolvement of all the more kids".
The CEO of the Kostea - Geitona Schools, Mr. Christos Geitonas stated: "On behalf of CGS I wish to salute our collaboration with Olympiacos BC, by means of the 'Elite Athlete Programme', that addresses high achieving students in both sports and academics. Our school has welcomed the talented players of the three times European Champion Olympiacos to our Junior High and High School programs, providing them, through the innovative "Elite Athlete Programme" the chance to further practice at the same time keeping up with the high academic standards of our school. I wish that the collaboration of the faculty and coaching staff of our Schools inspires the student/athletes to go after their dreams with the proper back up and dynamics".
Elite Athlete Programme
The "Elite Athlete Programme" is a personified educational system for Junior High and High School students, that combines high academic expectations with high sporting achievements, covering for the gap that is observed in regard to the education of young athletes - that is to combine their academic education with the achievement of their sporting goals.
The innovative, for Greek standards, program is structured based on the international IB Middle Years Programme & Dimploma Programme as well as on the Greek General Lyceum program, allowing the students to train daily, under the egis of top coaches in the sport they select.
