Bartzokas: «I sincerely enjoyed the atmosphere» (vid)

Following the game against Fenerbahce, Giorgos Bartzokas contemplated on the incredible atmosphere the ‘reds’ fans created.

“It was an amazing game. We have to congratulate both teams, there was a lot of intensity on the floor. They both defended very well. That’s why we had such a low score. We facilitated a lot of open shots, which is one of the main facets of our game, but we missed a lot of them with our best players. That’s normal, you can’t have 50-60% each night. We won through our defense, we succeeded in stopping De Colo, Henry and of course Guduric from facilitating. Fener is a team that wants to score in the pain, they are the top Euroleague team in that area. I think that our defense in the post, whether we played with switching or not, was very effective. Congratulations to my players, as well as to our fans. The atmosphere at the SEF was incredible. Personally, I sincerely enjoyed it”.

Asked about the winning bucket by Kostas Sloukas and if this is what he wants from him, he gave a humoristic answer: “Yes! If he can, he should be scoring the winning bucket in every game!”. And he went on to say: “I understand that fans and reporters like to personalize situations, to form a bond with certain individuals. And with Olympiacos, individuals always play in important role for the fans’ psyche as well as that of reporters. I’m happy that he made the last shot, but I don’t need him to feel the burden of having to do that. I’m satisfied with how the team functions. Following a mediocre defensive game against Alba, tonight we played a very good one. The players understood the importance of what we told them”.
