Bartzokas: «It’s a chance to thank our fans»
Olympiacos will be hosting the Euroleague top ranking team Barcelona at the SEF tomorrow (01/04, 20.00 CET), for the last day of the regular season of the competition.
Talking about the game against the ‘blaugrana’, the coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, pointed out: “We are happy to have secured the home court advantage and for a cycle to be completed, a process our team had to go through. This process did not begin in the summer but rather in the previous season and I’m talking about putting together a team that would be once again competing in the highest level of the Euroleague. Tomorrow is a good chance to thank our fans in the last game of the regular season. Our fans’ support helped us win a very good home court record and we succeeded together to have our team return to the highest level. The thing is that we play against the best European team of the season according to current ranking, but we also have to acknowledge that both teams are going to be missing players so the game is going to be very particular. Unfortunately we have been dealing with different kind of viral illnesses, but thankfully not covid. Even right now, I don’t know who’s going to be available to play tomorrow. Regardless though, we are going to fight to win”.
When asked to become more specific about who’s playing and who’s not, he said: “We are going to wait for today’s and tomorrow’s practices. The way things are right now, it’s extremely difficult for Fall and Sloukas to play. We’ll see about the rest”.
