Bartzokas: «We are simply leading 1-0»

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas kept an extremely low profile following the win over Monaco in the first playoff game.

“I want to congratulate our players and our fans. We been off the playoffs for three or four years and we now need to enjoy our participating this series. At the same time though, we have to challenge ourselves to do the best we can so that qualify for the final four. Monaco is a really strong team and they have proved it in the second round of the regular season of the Euroleague. They deserve to be here. And I’m expecting nothing else but strong and tough games in the series. I would like to point out that for me, my players and everyone in the club the series is simply at 1-0, it’s only the first win. We will be coming back on Thursday having prepared ourselves tactically, mentally and physically for this game”.

On his part, the coach of Monaco, Sasha Obradovic, pointed out: “Congratulations to Olympiacos. They deserved the win. I think that our approach to the game was very emotional. We did not play smart enough to win the game. The lack of experience on our side and the experience of the opponent on the other part played a role, especially with the details that are always important in games like that. We could have been better defense wise, although we did not do that bad. It’s certain that we need to do better offensively in the next game. We are now focusing on it…”
