Bartzokas: «We are now looking at the final four»
Giorgos Barztokas appeared to be content from securing top seed in the regular season.
“Congratulations to Kolossos for their course in the season. They had an incredible run, they finished 3rd and they deserved it. They’ve been playing good basketball and they rotate 11 to 12 players that they all have a role. I wish them all the best in the playoffs”, the ‘reds’ coach said.
He continued with the following: “This week we have had three games, two on the road and one at home, in order to finish the regular season. We are happy to have concluded the regular season at first place, the guys deserve to be acknowledged. At the same time, because of the Euroleague and the difficulties there, this feat is even more important, because we had to navigate two competitions at the time and if you count the Greek Cup too, then three. We have played too many games this season, more than 65 official ones and we have quite a few to play still, so some periods of relaxation, lacking intensity or with decisions that lack logic can be explained. Right now though, we have to look at the final four, at the Thursday semi-final. We have 4-5 days to prepare and that’s what we are going to be doing from tomorrow on”.
On his part, the coach of Kolossos, Elias Kantzouris, pointed out: “I wish good luck to Olympiacos with the final four. Everyone needs to understand that apart from which team each one of us supports as a fan, it’s a very good thing that a Greek team has qualified for the Euroleague Final Four or succeeds in any way. It’s very important for the sport we love and serve. Both teams practically used this game as preparation in view of the ones we have to play next. We have had an excellent regular season, but we need to keep that in the back of our minds and practically start from the beginning, with the right mentality, so that we can compete for our rightful share of the post-season”.
