Bartzokas: «We must give our best in the finals»

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, congratulated his players for qualifying to the finals and stressed the need to remain focused in view of the finals.

“I ought to congratulate Promitheas and wish them all the best for their upcoming games, because they still have to play the 3rd place finals. They are a team with a lot of talent in the offense and a good coach. We played at a high level during the entire series, we were serious, we won the games with blown out score differences, we scored more than 100 points in all three games and we showed to be at a good level for this time in the season after the final four. Each of our players knows their role and what the team needs from them. Right now, beyond individual stats, team game is really important when you are at the cusp of winning titles. Congratulations to our team for sweeping the series playing good games. What we need to be doing now is to get ready for the first game of the finals’ series. We have put great effort into securing home court advantage, we have that and we are ready to give our best”.

Promitheas’ coach, Makis Giatras, pointed out: “Congratulations to Olympiacos, they played an amazing series. I think that the way they played they respected us, they played at 100% of their capacity, they fought for every possession. We knew against which team we were going to be playing, we did not succeed at our goal that had been to remain competitive and at least in the Patras game, try for something more. Right now, we have a big goal, I’m talking about the 3rd place finals. This has been a very weird season for the team. If someone told us at the beginning of the season that Promitheas was going to rank 3rd, for some that might be a normal assessment, however, after what has happened this season, I think that ranking 3rd at the end will be an enormous success. We’ll try with all we’ve got to win the 3rd place. Good luck to Olympiacos in the finals”.
