Bartzokas: "We wanted to validate our worth"

Defense was the key in the victory against Panathinaikos for the Super Cup final, according to the ‘red & white’ coach, Giorgos Bartzokas.

“Congratulations to our team for the victory and for winning the title. It’s an early title at the beginning of the season that we all know is not the most important one. There are more important titles in the season, however, it was still a tournament we had wanted to win. To validate our worth, enjoy the game and assess our strength against a good team like Panathinaikos. All in all, we played a mediocre game, our stats prove that. We shot very low percentages in threes, which is also due to the good defense Panathinaikos was playing and the intensity of the game. We could have been better, at times we kind weren’t thinking the game out. We controlled the game in the second half with our defense. We could have opened up the score should we had not been kind of rushing it a little bit. The victory is what counts. Good luck to Panathinaikos for the upcoming season”.

On his part, Moustapha Fall, who was named MVP of the final, pointed out: “It was a tough game, just like all the others against Panathinaikos. We played very good defense, we did not play selfishly, it’s something that has been characterizing us and all of the these had been keys to our success. As for the MVP title; it’s always good to win staff. The number one goal is for the team to win. If I play well and this brings in an individual title as well, then all the better”.
