Bartzokas: "It was hard to lose with 29 assists"

The coach of Olympiacos, Giorgos Bartzokas, said the following about the winning game in Patras against Apollon…

“It was the League’s premiere, I hope the fans in Patras had a pleasant couple of hours. They obviously had wanted for their team to win, but as you can understand, it was kind of tough today. For us, it was a good opportunity to open the rotation, to have guys play that had not played that much either for the Super Cup or the game against Barcelona. Of course, we won the game, just like we had wanted. It was difficult to lose, with 29 assists for 5 turnovers. Apollon Patras is a team with very good offensive execution, they move the ball well. They have players that are good at facilitating, they are well coached, but they also have Giorgos Bogris who is very good at this. So, we had to be very compact with our defence to control the game. When we did that, especially in the third quarter, the game opened up and then it became a mere procedure. Good luck to Apollon Patras in the League and I wish health for all the fans”.
