Walkup: «You always have to play good defence»

Olympiacos is going to try and get one more road victory tomorrow at Tel Aviv (22/11, 20.05 CET), this time against Maccabi.

 “We know the atmosphere is going to be amazing”, Thomas Walkup stressed and continued: “They are a very talented and athletic team, that’s why I think that we need to find the rhythm we need. If we do that, everything is going to be fine. Because if you let them play freely, especially in their home court, your job immediately becomes more difficult”.  

Asked whether he expects more work in defense, he replied: “It’s not only me, we all need to play good defense. This is true for any Euroleague game. There are no games you can say ‘we don’t need to be that good tonight’. You have to be prepared to play good defense in every game”.

When asked to pinpoint the ‘keys’ to the victory, he said: “Controlling the rhythm and staying focused on our game plan. Not taking extravagant decisions. We need to execute the coach’s directions, stay focused and not allow them to find rhythm”.
