Bartzokas: “Very good game, in an incredible atmosphere”

Olympiacos’s coach applauded the players and the fans following the comfortable win against Fenerbahce.

“It was a very good game from my team, in an incredible atmosphere here at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. Our performance in the first half was compact, we dished out 19 assists and scored 58 points. Our defense was very good. Our first target in this game, against a team that has the highest FG% in the paint, was to avoid that and we didn’t. I think they made less than ten shots in the paint. Of course, we have to have in our minds that Fener did not have three players with the team in this game. That being said, this is the Eurolague and injuries are a part of the game. In the second half we made many turnovers, the 19 turnovers were too many. I can’t complain about anything, though. It was a good win. We had the game against Virtus here and today against Fener as well. We also had the Greek league and the game against Panathinaikos and PAOK on the road. We are talking about many difficult games in a row, so I am very happy because we won them all. Now we will focus on the game against Villeurbanne, who are playing well. We will have to be ready for another tough game”.

From his side, the coach of the Turkish team, Dimitris Itoudis, highlighted: “Congratulations to Olympiacos. There are not many things to say. The dominated from the start go the game and took the lead early. My team had its worst performance to date. We did not fight much. Irrespective of the fact we came here short handed, we should have played with more energy, more team work and have fought m

ore. We did not rise to the occasion. Our opponents dealt us with a huge deficit from the first quarter, we had more energy in the second half but it was too late”.
