Bartzokas: “A punishing loss for the way we played”

Olympiacos’s coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, explained after the end of the game against Villeurbanne how the winners of the Greek double lost to the French team.

The Greek coach initially congratulated Villeurbanne and then stated that “they deserved the win because they were committed until the end of the game, they played with passion and fought until the end to win the game, they did not give up and they deserve congratulations. For us, it was a punishment for the way we played in the second half. We stopped thinking how we will win through our defense, we gave them many open and easy shots, then they made plenty difficult shots as well and from our end, we should have put the game away earlier. We were up 17 in the first half and with the experience we have as a team, with the guards we have, we should have controlled the game better. We should have put the game away way earlier, we made many mistake in how we approached the game in the end and we lost. I want to congratulate Villeurbanne once more and we are now looking towards the next game."
