Sloukas: «If we are focused in defense, we are not going to be having problems»
According to Kostas Sloukas, defense is going to be the key to tomorrow’s (22/12, 20.00 CET) game against Red Star at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.
“I for once cannot forget about it”, was his answer when asked about the defeat to Villeurbanne in France. “It was a win we theoretically were holding in our hands, however, fifteen minutes of slacking deprived us from it, despite our good game for 25 minutes. It’s something we need to fix. We’ve been saying that from the beginning of the season. Of course, you have the tendency to make it a little harder for us, because as you probably know, we are also going to be losing games. The way we lose is what we need to fix and improve down the road”.
About the game against Red Star: “It’s a very difficult game, because our opponent has a very good momentum going. They play incredible defense, they play clever and that’s why they have this winning streak in recent games. I think that if we remain focused on our defense, we are not going to have a problem. And I’m saying that without underestimating Red Star, but we are also in a very good shape and we need to take advantage of it”.
Finally, about whether he and his team mates are already thinking about the game with Panathinaikos, he pointed out: “We are all focused on tomorrow’s game. The games with Panathinaikos are always very particular. This game is a category in itself. So, if we God willing we win tomorrow, we are going to be seeing about that game afterwards…”
