Walkup: «The differences are small»
Olympiacos and Alba have been walking different paths, since the ‘red & whites’ are at the top of the ranking while the German at its last spot.
However, Thomas Walkup and his team-mates don’t underestimate tomorrow’s (08/02, 20:00 CET) opponent. “The fact that Alba ranks last shows to the level of the Euroleague, because they are a very good team”, the American guard got to stress before continuing to say: “They play very good basketball and there had been many games that they could have definitely won. The differences between Euroleague teams are very small”.
About the fact that the ‘red & whites’ have been covering for their injured players with new protagonists coming out every time, Thomas Walkup commented: “We have a deep roster, but I think that it also has to do with the coach’s philosophy. The team does not depend on any one player. Of course it hurts us that Sloukas is out, because he’s doing a lot with organizing and facilitating. However, our philosophy is that everyone gets the ball, it’s not a one man show. That’s why when someone is out, the adjustment is easier. When Papanikolaou had been out at the beginning of the season I had gotten nervous, but another player stepped up then, Shaquielle”.
