Super Cup: Tip-off with awards!

On Thursday night (28/09) the unofficial tip-off of the Super Cup took place with the standard Press Conference of the tournament, but also with the presentation of the awards to the best of the 2022 – 2023 season by HEBA.

The General Director of Olympiacos BC, Nikos Lepeniotis, received the award for the team winning the double crown (League and Greek Cup). “We wish to thank the island of Rhodes for the hospitality, both the municipality and the prefecture. Congratulations to the team and the coaches, for an almost perfect season. If not for a single shot, last season would have been perfect. But most of all, we are proud because last season was combined with a tremendous effort, insurmountable love from the fans in every game and every play. We are very proud for the effort. I think that this season will have the same outlook. Good luck to all the teams and I wish health for everyone”.

After winning best coach with the Euroleague, the ‘red & whites’ coach also won best coach of the Basket League. “I wish to thank everyone partaking in the huge effort we made last season, from the first day to the last. It is obvious that the award is a group one. My associate coaches, all the players who played last season, everyone who worked for the team, the fans and the team owners of course, they all have a share in this. So, I dedicate it to them”.

Kostas Papanikolaou and Moustapha Fall were included in the All Basket League Team. “It’s an honor” the captain pointed out and added: “We should not be forgetting that these awards come through team work. So this belongs to everyone on the team. Thank you, we now move ahead”. On his part, the French center stressed: “I want to thank everyone. My team mates, the Olympiacos’ organization, the fans, my coaches… Thank you all”.

After receiving best defender award, Thomas Walkup stated the following: “Thank you for the acknowledgement. I have faith and I believe that individual accolades come through team success. I want to thank my team mates, the coaches and the front office”.

The MVP trophy for Sasha Vezenkov, as well as those for member of the All Basket League Team and most popular player, were handed to the General Director of Olympiacos BC, Nikos Lepeniotis and the Sports Director, Christos Bafes.
