A historic Triple Double
It took 28 years and 351 days since the Olympiacos – Ampelokepe game for the first category of the Greek League for a ‘red & white’ player to once again score a stat sheet with a triple double. Then it was Sasha Volkov, now it’s Moustapha Fall.
On November 19, 1994, Olympiacos welcomed the team of Ampelokepe and was unstoppable, winning by a 60p. margin (129-69) and setting numerous new records.
The 129 points scored is the best scoring night in the team’s history, while the 60 points difference makes for the 6th broadest win in the Greek League. However, apart from team statistics, the said game was historic because Sasha Volkov scored the first and only triple double in our team’s history.
It’s possible that something like that had also happened in previous seasons, but due to the lack of statistical coverage of the games, nothing of sorts had been recorded before.
Sasha Volkov, in the game vs Ampelokepe, had 31 points (4/6 free throws, 12/24 2p., 1/1 ep.), 13 rebounds (8 defensive and 5 offensive ones), 11 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in 29 minutes.
29 years later, in Olympiacos’ win against PAOK in Thessaloniki (77-63), Moustapha Fall scored the second triple double in our team’s history, with 10 points (2/5 free throws, 4/8 2p.), 10 rebounds (6 defensive and 4 offensive ones), 11 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in 35:33’’.
Also, another important feat for the French is that no center has ever scored a triple double with assists in the history of Greek Basketball.
