Canaan: «We must focus in defense» (vid)
Olympiacos will be playing with Baskonia tomorrow (09/11, 18.15 CET) at the SEF, for the 7th round of the Euroleague, aiming to return to winning.
“We must come on the floor ready to play hard”, Isaiah Canaan stressed. “They are a team with a new coach and usually, when changes like that happen, the team finds energy because they have something to prove. So, we are going to have to be ready for tomorrow’s game”.
Asked about the good shooters the Spanish team has on its roster, he commented: “I’m not worried about what the opponent can do. I’m focused on what I need to do, on what my team needs. I’m going to go out and play defense, because, like you said, they have players that can shoot the ball. I’ll have to be focused in defense and do what I need to do to help my team win”.
Finally, on whether he’s agitated by the fact that Olympiacos has not had the chance to play with a full roster since the beginning of the season due to injuries, he said: “With everything we have been through since the beginning of the pre-season up to now, not having the whole team together, I like where we are. I know we can only get better when these players recover. So, we have to weather out the storm and continue being together and do what we have to do. We always have a chance against any opponent”.
