Dorsey on Partizan: «It's certain they are going to fight»
Olympiacos faces Partizan in Belgrade for the 22nd round of the EuroLeague, and Tyler Dorsey spoke to olympiacosbc.gr about the matchup, his playmaking skills, and the rhythm that has propelled him to 17.6 points per game this season.
What are your thoughts on the game against Partizan?
“Another road game for us, and this time in a tough environment in a small arena. They may have been losing lately, but they will definitely fight. It will be important for us to get the win before the double game week that follows. We have to find a way to get it done, play our game the right way, and maintain our rhythm.”
How different will this game be compared to our home win against Partizan?
“It’s a similar roster. The coach has changed, the tactics have changed, but the players are the same. I don’t think too many things have changed, but they do some things differently. We have to adjust to that, because they’re not going to gift us the win and we can’t have that mindset. We have to be ready, because they will fight for the win.”
Are you ready to play as a playmaker if needed?
“Yes, of course! If I need to play as a point guard, I can definitely do that. I can facilitate for my teammates when they hedge out on screens, either by finding the shooters on the perimeter, players cutting to the basket, or the bigs in the paint.”
Fans seem to love your game when it’s combined with assists. Is that something you worked on more this season?
“I simply have the ball in my hands more and I like facilitating our offense. I’ve always believed that good scoring makes playmaking easier, because the defense focuses on you, you draw two defenders, and you have to make the right decision. I still need to improve in this area, reduce my turnovers, and dish out more assists.”
You mentioned maintaining rhythm earlier. What gives you that rhythm this season?
“I work hard, I play more, and I’ve built confidence. For me, it’s a simple recipe. People are surprised, but I’m not. All of this was built inside me from last season, when I was disappointed in a way. Every player wants to impact the team with their performance. That period helped me build aggressiveness, work hard, and form the right mindset. It’s that simple.”
