Jones on Maccabi: «We must control the tempo »

Tyrique Jones is more than ready for his first EuroLeague game wearing the Olympiacos’ jersey and on his debut the opponent is going to be Maccabi, a team he played againt only three weeks ago, when he was still playing for Partizan.

After the latest team practice at the SEF, the American center talked to olympiacosbc.gr about the game against the Israeli team and also about his experience in these first weeks at Piraeus.

You had played against Maccabi with Partizan only three weeks ago and you probably know them better than your teammates do. What should Olympiacos focus on for this game?

«We must play our own style of basketball and control the tempo. Be physical and do what we like to do, scoring. It’s very important to manage turnovers and limit their possessions through our defensive game».

Did you enjoy your debut at the Peace and Friendship Stadium (SEF) in the game vs Maroussi?

«Yes, I simply enjoy playing basketball. I love my current environment and I’m happy to play basketball ».

How have the fans received you?

«It’s been wonderful. They have welcomed me since day one. Even during the game against Bayern, although I wasn’t playing, I was listening to their voices during the team’s presentation, and it was fantastic. As long as I am myself and play hard, I think they are going to appreciate me».

Do you have any message for them?

«To keep supporting us and I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing them tomorrow night ».
