Christian Karembeu talks about Olympiacos and Greece
At the limelight of the marketing summit held in Barcelona during the draw for the new season, one of the speakers, Christian Carembeu, also spoke for the camera of Olympiacosbc.gr
-Christian, what it is that you do exactly for UEFA?
-I’m an UEFA ambassador for the Champions League trophy but I also deal with certain programs teams develop for general management and marketing. I share my experience and work for the promotion of football.
-You stayed with Olympiacos for three years, do you recall some good moments from your career?
-Everything had been incredible and I still have great memories and I’m always grateful for the Greek fans and of course, I’m still proud to be one of them. My heart is still Greek and I keep great memories and I hope to have the chance to always go back to Greece.
-Do you have a message for the Olympiacos fans? We know that they still miss you and still sing your name.
-For me, Olympiacos has been one of the biggest teams of my career and I would like to thank them for being so warm and kind with me. I would like to tell them to keep cheering for Olympiacos, especially during this time of crisis and of course I sympathize with the Greek people for what they go through nowadays and I hope that everyone will be back on their feet. We definitely need Greece in Europe and I when I talk about Europe I mean the world Greece has offered democracy and everything that comes from Greece, as etymology states. Philosophy, politics. I hope and believe that Greece can once again give the proper example.
-Last season Olympiacos won the Euroleague after 15 years. Did you have the chance to watch the game?
-I heard about it on the radio. All the fans were talking about it. Of course I supported Olympiacos. I know that it was kind of a last minute thing, but this is the magic of the game, the magic of sports, to achieve a goal when nobody expects you to and at least now can be reborn. I do know that Panathinaikos is a great contender, but when I talk about Olympiacos I think about Greek sports and what happened with the Euroleague is great for Greece.
