Oliver Lafayette in his first interview as a Reds’ player
Oliver Lafayette was Olympiacos first signing of the 2014-2015 season. A few days after finishing his season in the Spanish Liga Endesa with Valencia, Lafayette decided to sign with Olympiacos and he know explains to OLYMPIACOSBC.GR how his decision was not difficult at all…
«My deal with Olympiacos is another big step for my career. The biggest one yet. I’m coming to a team where I’ll meet great teammates and a great coaching staff. These elements were enough for me to make my decision», said the American guard, who later added: «Olympiacos has created a great program and that’s not only evident by the two straight Euroleague titles. Olympiacos has been one of the top teams in Europe which means that the people who run the team are great at what they do».
Lafayette spoke about his new goals for his new chapter in his career: «I signed to win titles, especially the Euroleague title. I know it’s difficult but if one team knows how to win titles, it’s Olympiacos. I played against them team before both of their Euroleague titles in 2012 and 2013 and I know how tough the team is».
The former Valencia player has played against Vassilis Spanoulis, but know they’ll be teammates: «It’s better to have him with you than against you (laughs). He’s a great player, probably the best in Europe, and since most of the pressure falls on his shoulders, it’s easier for us to operate. However, it’s not only Vassilis and I, but the whole team that will try to reach our goals. We’ll find our roles, we’ll work hard and we’ll have good chemistry».
