Spanoulis: «The Angelopoulos brothers have changed the history of Olympiacos»

Vassilis Spanoulis admitted that the last night will remain indelible in his memory, while he pointed out that he was not the one to change the history of Olympiacos, but rather the Presidents of the Club, Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos.

“For me, it was a two days event that was concluded in fantastic manner. A two days event that is not common in Europe and has nothing to be envious of the global stage. Especially tonight will remain for ever indelible in my mind, because it was the celebration of all we did with Olympiacos. All of that has happened thanks to the Presidents, Mr. Giorgos and Mr. Panagiotis Angelopoulos. I would once again like to thank them in public for everything they have done for me these 11 years, culminating tonight. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. What happened for me makes me really emotional”.  

And he went on with the following: “Olympiacos gifted me with life long relationships. It’s not just the competition. If you don’t built human relationships, you cannot be successful in sports, at least that’s what I think. Through difficulties, through success, we built a team with strong foundations. A team cannot be built without a strong and capable administration. Mr. Giorgos and Mr. Panagiotis (i.e. Angelopoulos) are responsible for Olympiacos’ being reborn and climbing the top of Europe. Nothing of these things would have been possible if they hadn’t put their trust in me, if they hadn’t trusted their instincts, my talent and my character. There are many that say Spanoulis changed the history of Olympiacos. I wasn’t the one to change it. It was the team’s Presidents first who did that, because they are the ones that brought me to the team and gave me the opportunity to show may talents and my leadership”.
