With today’s decision, the HEBA Judge imposed on Panathinaikos BC only a fine of €20,000 for its refusal to participate in last year’s Super Cup, completely disregarding the existence of the relevant Special Regulation, which mandatorily provides not only for a fine but also for exclusion from the next competition.
Panathinaikos BC had been referred by the HEBA Board of Directors as early as December 2025 for violating the provisions of the Special Regulation. However, 4 months later, the HEBA Judge concluded that the Super Cup Special Regulation… does not apply to the Super Cup itself!
At the same time, the same Judge punished our team’s player, Tyrique Jones, for an alleged “intent of an obscene gesture” with an excessive penalty of a three (3) games ban, a sanction we do not recall ever being imposed before in the history of the Greek Basket League, while even the complaining party, Panathinaikos BC, had only requested a fine of €10,000.
Olympiacos BC, having full confidence in Greek Justice, will immediately appeal the above decisions before ASEAD, seeking the proper application of the regulations.
