Olympiacos on the top of Europe!

In a heart-stopping final, Olympiacos defeated Real Madrid 92-85 and captured the fourth EuroLeague title in the club’s history.
 
In front of 18,000 fans who packed the OAKA Arena, our team made history. Led by the sensational Evan Fournier, who scored 20 points, Olympiacos achieved the goal they had been fighting for all season. The French star was also named the MVP of the Final Four.

For Olympiacos, the most valuable player according to the performance index rating was Alec Peters, who finished the game with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Vezenkov and Walkup also scored in double figures.

Georgios Bartzokas started the game with Walkup, Dorsey, Papanikolaou, Vezenkov, and Milutinov, but Real Madrid came out stronger and quickly built an eight-point lead (1-9). Olympiacos scored its first field goal in the third minute, with Milutinov making it 3-9.

“Los Blancos” started the game extremely accurately from beyond the arc and extended their lead to as many as 12 points (3-15). However, Olympiacos stayed composed. Bartzokas’ players stuck to their basketball principles and cut the deficit to five (13-18), but Trey Lyles had a magical start, scoring 13 points in less than 7' and setting the tone early. The first quarter ended with Real leading by seven (19-26).

Olympiacos’ second unit opened the second quarter with great intensity, while Cory Joseph looked like a man on a mission. With Tyson Ward standing out offensively, Olympiacos reduced the deficit to three (28-31) with six minutes remaining in the half, and Alec Peters later tied the game at 36 points with a two-pointer. During the second quarter, our team found excellent rhythm, and Evan Fournier’s 8 consecutive points gave Olympiacos its first lead of the game with 2:23 left before halftime.

Bartzokas’ team entered halftime leading by two points (46-44). Olympiacos also had chances to extend the lead before the break, but Trey Lyles delivered an unbelievable first half with 21 points and 5/6 shooting from three-point range.

Olympiacos opened the second half with a three-pointer from McKissic to take a 5p. lead, but once again Real Madrid found answers from the perimeter.

By the 26th minute, Real had made 11 of its 24 three-point attempts and regained a 6-point advantage (54-60), with Mario Hezonja leading the charge. Olympiacos missed several easy shots near the basket and committed consecutive turnovers during the latter part of the third quarter, allowing Real to move ahead 61-65.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Olympiacos found new energy as Fournier and Joseph connected from long range, bringing the crowd fully back into the game. From that point on, the final turned into a thriller. Real Madrid refused to back down, with Maledon and Hezonja making key individual plays, while Olympiacos continued struggling with missed shots.

With four minutes still on the clock, the final was hanging by a thread, as Olympiacos held a narrow one-point lead (74-73). The atmosphere inside the Telekom Center Athens reached unbelievable intensity, with both teams giving everything for victory.

In the final three minutes, Bartzokas’ players showed greater composure. Walkup and Fournier stepped up in the decisive moments, leading Olympiacos to victory and securing the fourth European trophy in club history.
